India on Monday said that it would "stay on course" in the bilateral composite dialogue process with Pakistan. "Whatever we are doing is part of a well thought out roadmap and we have not deflected from that," said a news dispatch quoting official sources here. The sources further said that there was no intention on New Delhi's part to put the Jammu and Kashmir issue on the backburner by suggesting some 100 Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to promote co-operation between the two countries in diverse fields.

"Our emphasis on promoting people-to-people contacts is integral to our search for a mutually acceptable solution to the Kashmir issue," added the report.

The Kashmir issue was a "complicated" one, which had defied a solution for more than 50 years, observed the report adding, to address the issue sincerely, the two sides must engage in CBMs to build a larger constituency for peace on both sides of the border.
